Meet, Greet & Agree

Intros - Breif Introduction

Goals

By the end of the workshop, teachers will be able to:

  • Explain the different course offerings that Code.org has for K-5 students

  • Define all computer science concepts in Code.org’s K-5 courses

  • Manage their student’s accounts and track their progress with Code.org’s teacher dashboard

  • Confidently facilitate Code.org’s courses in their classroom by taking risks and learning from their students

  • Say to their students: “I don’t know. Let’s figure it out together.”

Norms

A list that everyone can see based on what participants suggest. The most important things to cover are points  along these lines:

  • Be respectful of people's differing background with computer science -- there are no dumb questions

  • Take risks! We're all here to learn

Puzzle race activity: meet and greet your fellow participants and complete a puzzle, all the while, working on Computational Thinking Skills:

  • Creativity

  • Collaboration

  • Communication

  • Persistence

  • Problem Solving
